You're Never Too Young to Start Giving Back

Christi L. Grudier ('10) has designated the Lamar University Foundation as a beneficiary of a universal life insurance policy with funds ultimately going to an endowed scholarship for students majoring in Communication. With the establishment of her planned gift, Christi was recognized as a member of the Lamar University Legacy Society…at the young age of 30!

While a student at Lamar, Christi was the recipient of multiple scholarships, and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, a Peer Advisor, an executive member of Professional Communication Association, a member of Greek Council, and a member of several other student organizations. Additionally, Christi was an avid volunteer in the community, both while attending Lamar and after graduation. She often spent any free time working with one of her favorite non-profit organizations, such as the Arc of Greater Beaumont, Beaumont Children's Museum, and Junior League of Beaumont.

Christi believes that along with the financial assistance from the scholarships, another huge factor in her successful college career was the involvement of faculty, staff, and alumni of her beloved university. It is her desire that by establishing a scholarship, she will help future LU students to have similar opportunities and experiences that she had.

Christi began her educational journey at Lamar University in 2006, graduating from the College of Fine Arts and Communication in 2010 with a B.S. in Communication. She also earned her M.A in Higher Education Administration from Sam Houston State University in 2013, and an Ed.D in Higher Education Leadership from Texas Christian University in 2020. Christi worked as a residence director and admissions counselor for Lamar University as well. Originally from Fannett, Texas, Christi is a proud Lamar alumna and remains devoted to the university and community.
